KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on the Chinese community in Sabah to become a strategic partner in the state’s development.
In a Chinese New Year message, he urged continued cooperation to build a more progressive Sabah.
Hajiji said the state government aims to empower the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (SMJ 2.0) initiative to drive economic growth and human capital development.
“Through SMJ 2.0, we ensure that progress is inclusive and that the state’s prosperity is enjoyed inclusively, regardless of race and background,” he stated.
He added that unity is the key to the stability and prosperity of the state.
Hajiji said the festival embodies values of family, unity and new hope.
He noted it reflects rich cultural heritage and strengthens harmony among Sabah’s multiracial population.
“2026, celebrated as the Year of the Fire Horse, carries the symbols of energy, courage and innovation,” he said.
This spirit should inspire forward movement with structured planning for sustainable development.
He concluded by wishing the Chinese community in Sabah and nationwide a Happy Chinese New Year.
