Giuffre’s family says ‘he was never a prince’ after Andrew’s arrest, calling it a victory for survivors as UK police investigate misconduct claims.
WASHINGTON: The family of Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre has condemned Britain’s former prince Andrew following his arrest.
“He was never a prince,” Giuffre’s siblings said in a statement to CBS News. They described the arrest as lifting their broken hearts, affirming that “no one is above the law, not even royalty.”
UK police arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on suspicion of misconduct during his tenure as a trade envoy. This follows recent revelations appearing to show him sending potentially confidential documents to the convicted US sex offender Epstein.
Giuffre had alleged she was trafficked by Epstein to have sex with Andrew on three occasions, twice when she was 17. Her accusations, alongside other public documents, reignited UK anger over his ties to Epstein.
This culminated in King Charles III removing all of his brother’s royal titles and honors. The King also announced Andrew would be ousted from his mansion on the Windsor estate.
Andrew has consistently denied sexually abusing Giuffre. He paid her a multi-million-pound settlement in 2022 after she launched a lawsuit against him, without any admission of guilt.
“For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you,” said the family members of Giuffre, who died by suicide last year at age 41.
