Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail says entry point procedures are being reviewed for smoother movement of people and trade.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry is refining the management of the country’s entry points to ensure smoother movement for citizens, visitors and trade.

Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (pic) said discussions are ongoing to review existing procedures for a more efficient, faster and better structured process.

“This reform is not a drastic change that can be implemented in a day or two, but rather a continuous effort,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that the ministry is scrutinising procedures and leveraging technology to ensure entry points reflect preparedness and professionalism.

On January 28, Saifuddin Nasution said the National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe) would be expanded in stages from early in the second quarter of this year.

The MyNIISe system is a key government reform initiative that will replace the existing QR code system for automated security checks.

It will also replace the Malaysian Immigration Integrated Management System (MyIMMs), which has been used for over 20 years.

The older system is no longer adequate to address current challenges like global security threats and high volumes of cross-border movement.
