Iran launched ballistic missiles towards the Diego Garcia military base in a show of extended missile range, according to state media.
TEHRAN: Iran fired two ballistic missiles towards the US-UK military base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The semi-official Mehr news agency reported the strike on Saturday.
Mehr described targeting the remote base as a “significant step”. It claimed the action shows Iran’s missile range exceeds what its enemies previously imagined.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Iran had launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles toward the base. It stated the missiles did not hit their target.
