Iran’s military warns regional states that media infrastructure used by the outlawed Iran International channel could become targets for Tehran.
TEHRAN: Iran’s military has issued a stark warning to countries in the region against providing any form of cooperation to the London-based broadcaster Iran International.
In a statement carried by state television late on Sunday, the operational command Khatam Al-Anbiya declared that media infrastructure used to support the channel would be placed on its list of potential targets.
The military command accused the “Zionist International Network” of using regional satellite capacity and media infrastructure to create tension and propagate false narratives in service of American and Israeli goals.
It warned that any elements continuing to assist what it called an “evil and satanic network” would be placed in the target bank of the Islamic Republic.
Iran has designated Iran International a terrorist organisation since 2022 and has recently asserted the channel is affiliated with Israel.
Authorities announced on Sunday the arrest of at least 18 individuals accused of transmitting images and information to the broadcaster.
The warning comes amid heightened regional tensions following the death of Iran’s supreme leader in US-Israeli strikes last month.
