Icon Jco Puchong suspends staff after dashcam caught techs vaping and cursing in a customer’s car

A car dealership in Puchong has suspended several of its service centre staff and initiated a goodwill resolution with an affected customer after dashcam footage captured technicians vaping and using abusive language inside a customer’s vehicle — including a shocking remark telling the car owner to “go and die.”

The incident unfolded at Icon Jco Puchong, an authorised service centre for the Omoda and Jaecoo marques, and quickly gained traction online after the recording was circulated across multiple social media platforms.

The footage showed a group of technicians behaving inappropriately while the vehicle was in their care.

One technician was heard directing a profanity-laced remark at the car’s owner. When a colleague flagged that the dashcam was still active and recording, the technician brazenly dismissed any concern, reportedly responding that there was nothing to fear.

In an initial statement dated March 14, the management of Icon Jco Puchong acknowledged the footage and confirmed that vaping inside a customer’s vehicle was also visible in the recording.

The company was categorical in its response, stating that such conduct — including disrespectful language and the use of vaping devices in a customer’s car — ran completely contrary to its workplace standards and would not be condoned under any circumstances.

The staff members involved were placed under immediate suspension pending a thorough internal investigation.

In a subsequent update, the company said its management had reached out directly to the affected customer in an effort to settle the matter in good faith. A resolution has been offered to the customer, though its specifics have not been disclosed publicly. The company indicated it was awaiting the customer’s response before the matter could be formally concluded.

Disciplinary proceedings against the staff members remain ongoing, with the company stating that appropriate action would follow once the internal review was complete.

The incident drew fierce criticism online, with many commenters voicing frustration over what they described as a troubling lack of professionalism and basic respect for customers’ personal property at automotive service centres. Icon Jco Puchong has since appealed for public patience, urging the public to refrain from speculation while the matter is being resolved internally.
