Coach Xisco Munoz targets a perfect league record as JDT chase an unprecedented unbeaten season with four matches remaining.
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor Darul Ta’zim head coach Xisco Munoz has set a new target for his already-crowned champions: an unbeaten Malaysia Super League season.
Munoz reaffirmed this ambition following his team’s emphatic 7-0 victory over PDRM FC. He stressed the importance of maintaining focus despite having secured a 12th consecutive league title.
“It is important for us to continue with the same character, ambition, and strength,” Munoz said in a post-match press conference. He praised the values his players are showing as they chase history.
Achieving a perfect season presents a significant challenge, but Munoz commended his squad’s professional mentality. He highlighted the need for maximum effort in every remaining fixture.
“Every match is difficult, but the players are giving their maximum, both on the pitch and in training,” he stated. Munoz believes pushing until the final whistle in every game is essential to reach the highest level.
With only four league matches left, JDT have the opportunity to set a new club record. Completing the season unbeaten would be a historic first in the club’s illustrious history.
On managing his squad, Munoz emphasised the need for careful player rotation. He aims to balance peak performance with player welfare during the run-in.
“Not every player can play every match, but we aim to give everyone an opportunity,” the coach explained. He credited the coaching and physiotherapy staff for their work in maintaining player fitness.
Munoz concluded that strategic rotation is planned to sustain the team’s high performance until the season’s conclusion.
