
Defending champions JDT dominate KL City 4-0 in the Malaysia Cup semi-final first leg, with Bergson and Ager Aketxe starring in a commanding away victory.
KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta’zim delivered a commanding away performance to thrash Kuala Lumpur City FC 4-0 in the first leg of the Malaysia Cup semi-final.
The defending champions opened the scoring after just five minutes through prolific striker Bergson Gustavo Silveira Da Silva.
JDT doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Ager Aketxe Barrutia fired home calmly with his left foot.
The visitors tightened their grip with a third goal in the 59th minute, as Bergson set up Oscar Arribas Pasero to score.
Ager Aketxe capped a fine individual performance with his second goal in the 84th minute to seal a 4-0 victory.
The hosts’ attempts to respond, including efforts from captain Paulo Josue and Muhammad Safawi Rashid, proved futile.
JDT also had a goal from Ignacio Mendez Navia Fernandez ruled out following a VAR review in the second half.
The second leg between KL City and JDT will take place on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the other semi-final will see Kuching City FC face Selangor FC this Sunday.
