Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi says the Bangsa Johor community knows the Johor Regent is a capable leader committed to state development and public welfare.

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has expressed confidence that the public, particularly the Bangsa Johor community, recognises the Johor Regent as a capable leader.

In a Facebook post, Onn Hafiz said the people understand His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail’s true leadership and vision despite recent social media criticism.

“That is the reality of today’s world. Social media gives everyone a platform to voice their views. However, I am confident that Bangsa Johor knows who TMJ truly is,” he said.

Onn Hafiz noted that the Crown Prince applies the same high standards expected of Johor Darul Ta’zim FC to the state administration.

He said he has personally witnessed how TMJ’s initiatives stem from a clear desire to see Johor progress and become more competitive.

The Menteri Besar added that TMJ often reminds state leaders that governing is a responsibility to work harder and ensure policies benefit the people.

In education, he said TMJ has emphasised building Johor’s future on quality education for the younger generation.

This vision led to initiatives like the Sekolah Rintis Bangsa Johor aimed at nurturing globally competitive students.

Onn Hafiz said youth development has been strengthened through facilities like the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre.

He added that the Southern Volunteers mobilise thousands of young people to assist communities during disasters.

“These initiatives help shape a generation that is not only competitive but also committed to serving society,” he said.

In the economic sector, TMJ stressed that progress must provide real benefits to the people.

This includes attracting high-quality investments to create premium-paying jobs aligned with the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.

Onn Hafiz said Johor has achieved a major milestone by eradicating hardcore poverty through coordinated agency efforts.

He also noted that more than 20,000 units of affordable homes have been completed and occupied.

Some lesser-known initiatives inspired by TMJ include the Infaq Jumaat Johor, which benefits hundreds of thousands weekly.

“Many may not realise that the idea behind the programme was inspired by His Royal Highness’ concern for those in need. This is a side that is rarely discussed,” he said.

While TMJ is firm on football standards, Onn Hafiz stressed his vision extends to education, youth, economy and public wellbeing.

“Differences of opinion are normal in any mature society. However, we must not allow a single issue to divide us,” he said.

He urged continued respect and unity to build a more prosperous future for the next generation.

“The Ruler and the people are inseparable,” Onn Hafiz added.
