The Road Transport Department pledges full support to the MACC’s intensified operations against middlemen bribing enforcement agencies to shield lorry syndicates
PUTRAJAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has pledged its full support for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) intensified crackdown on middlemen.
These individuals are suspected of bribing government and enforcement agencies to protect lorry syndicates from legal action.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said the commission is prioritising efforts to dismantle organised networks of agents and middlemen. These networks facilitate dealings between syndicates and enforcement personnel to shield lorries from action under the Road Transport Act 1987.
“This strategic cooperation with JPJ will be strengthened from time to time, including through joint operations, information sharing and preventive programmes,” he said in a statement.
He added the goal is to curb the continued activities of agents and middlemen.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli paid a courtesy call on Ahmad Khusairi at the MACC headquarters. Aedy Fadly gave the department’s full commitment to continue working closely with the anti-graft body.
This cooperation includes sharing intelligence, strengthening internal monitoring mechanisms and taking firm action against any officers found colluding with syndicates.
During the meeting, both parties held discussions to ensure enforcement actions can be implemented more effectively and with integrity.
