Passengers vent frustration as Kelana Jaya LRT breaks down for the fourth time this month during peak Ramadan hours
THE Kelana Jaya LRT Line has faced its fourth disruption this month, sparking frustration among passengers, particularly during peak hours.
Commuters have taken to social media to vent their irritation over the increasingly frequent breakdowns.
Ros Amira sarcastically posted on Threads: “It feels like this year the Kelana Jaya LRT line is really part of our Ramadan test. From day one without fail. I invite everyone to make peace with fate, because usually when we accept it, Allah makes things easier.”
She added that passengers had to disembark at Taman Bahagia due to sudden jerking and braking.
“The next train was okay, but it was packed, so everyone had to squeeze in and be smart about getting on,” she said.
Earlier, Rapid KL announced on their Facebook page that a train had been withdrawn from service at Taman Bahagia Station due to a technical fault.
“This will result in temporary changes to train frequency, which will be automatically adjusted,” the statement read.
An update warned of expected congestion at interchange and connecting stations during peak hours and advised passengers to consider alternative routes.
Another commuter, @joseyoona, described the chaos at Bank Rakyat Station: “It suddenly braked and everyone who was standing fell over.
One man fell and slightly sprained his wrist. Then the train didn’t stop at Abdullah Hukum, so we had to turn back. Rapid KL, you could do better.”
Mehmed Hafeez added, “Nowadays, whenever the LRT suddenly slams on the brakes, it feels like they’ll just terminate the service straight away. And it’s the morning rush to work. Not funny at all, seriously.”
Nur Liyana questioned whether the LRT will break down every day and urged Rapid KL to implement a solid solution to end the peak hour disruptions.
