Wolves’ stoppage-time winner seals a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool, denting the Reds’ top-four hopes and piling pressure on manager Arne Slot.

LIVERPOOL suffered a dramatic and embarrassing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Premier League bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.

A stoppage-time winner from Andre inflicted the latest humbling loss in a chastening season for Arne Slot’s side.

The Reds fell behind to Rodrigo Gomes’s 78th-minute strike at Molineux.

Mohamed Salah hauled Liverpool level with his first league goal since November, intercepting a poor pass before finishing in the 83rd minute.

Andre then stole the points in added time, pouncing on a poor clearance from Alisson Becker.

His powerful strike deflected off Joe Gomez and looped over the wrong-footed Liverpool goalkeeper.

It was the first time the league’s bottom club had beaten the reigning champions since 2017.

Liverpool have now conceded 14 goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this season, including five in the 90th minute or later.

Slot described it as a “bad result” and highlighted a concerning trend.

“The three times we lost in the last 22 games were all in extra time,” the crestfallen manager said.

The defeat leaves Liverpool fifth, with sixth-placed Chelsea able to overtake them with a win on Wednesday.

It raises fresh questions about Slot’s Anfield future ahead of an immediate FA Cup fifth-round rematch at Molineux on Friday.

In a poignant moment, Wolves and Liverpool fans joined in sustained applause on the 18th minute in memory of former Wolves player Diogo Jota.

The Portugal forward, who wore the number 18 shirt at Molineux, died in a car crash last year.

Despite the memorable victory, Wolves remain 11 points from safety with eight games left.

In Tuesday’s other match, Everton beat Burnley 2-0 to push the Clarets closer to relegation.
