KUCHING: Education and healthcare issues were among the key topics discussed at a recent technical committee meeting under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (pix) said several matters were agreed upon during the March 2 meeting. These agreements will first be presented for approval at a higher-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The meeting was only at the technical level and the agreed matters will be brought to the highest level for endorsement,” Fadillah told reporters. He added that the meeting with the prime minister does not yet have a set date but is typically held twice a year, with hopes for a session around May or June.
The technical meeting was chaired by Fadillah at the Parliament Building. It was attended by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, several other federal ministers, and senior representatives from Sabah and Sarawak.
Sarawak was represented by its three deputy premiers, while Sabah sent its three deputy chief ministers. The meeting aimed to gather feedback from federal and state entities on all unresolved MA63 matters.
It also sought to determine a direction for addressing the issues raised.
