
A school hostel supervisor in Seremban was detained by the MACC for allegedly soliciting and accepting a RM78,000 bribe linked to maintenance work contracts.
SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a school hostel supervisor on suspicion of soliciting and accepting a bribe of approximately RM78,000.
The man, in his 30s, was detained when he arrived to give a statement at the Negeri Sembilan MACC office.
He has been remanded for five days until Sunday following an order issued by Magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talhah.
Preliminary investigations indicate the alleged offence occurred in 2022.
It is claimed the bribe was accepted from a company owner in exchange for securing maintenance work at the hostel.
The total value of the maintenance work involved is estimated at RM114,000.
Negeri Sembilan MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the arrest.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
