KUALA LUMPUR: The government will establish a special committee to study the impact of the United States-Iran conflict on the national economy.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Finance Minister II will lead the special committee together with the Economy Minister and other relevant ministers.
He said the committee will assess the economic impact and current developments on a daily basis to provide updates to the government leadership.
Anwar also assured that Malaysia’s oil supply remains under control despite the potential for the conflict to affect the global energy market.
The supply of petroleum products in the country is sufficient at least until May 2026, according to the Prime Minister.
He stated that the government is continuously monitoring developments and striving to protect the interests of Malaysians.
The government is also working to ensure the stability of the national economy while supporting all efforts toward peace and a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
