The government’s new policy expedites debt relief for single parents, micro-entrepreneurs, scam victims and abandoned project buyers.
PUTRAJAYA: The government has launched a ‘Second Chance Fast Track Policy’ to expedite the bankruptcy discharge process for four specific vulnerable groups.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the policy provides an express pathway for single parents, microloan entrepreneurs, victims of financial fraud, and housing loan borrowers affected by abandoned projects.
“This Fast Track initiative is not merely a rebranding exercise,” she said at the programme launch by the Insolvency Department (MdI).
Azalina stated it is a commitment to accelerate justice through an empathetic policy that rescues individuals from debt.
She explained the policy is founded on the principles of care and compassion within the Malaysia MADANI Framework.
“The MADANI Government holds that financial failure is not the end of life,” she added.
Azalina believes it can become a turning point if the system is fair, efficient and humane.
The minister also revealed the MdI’s recent success in resolving bankruptcy cases.
The department resolved 176,851 discharge cases in 2024 and 204,487 cases last year.
“These are not merely figures, but more than 381,000 lives that have been given a new lease of life,” she said.
