Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim assures Malaysia’s oil and gas supply is secure and economic fundamentals strong despite Middle East tensions.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government is closely monitoring the conflict in the Middle East.
He assured the public that Malaysia’s national oil and gas supply remains secure.
In a social media post, Anwar stated the MADANI government is on alert with contingency measures in place.
These measures aim to protect the people and safeguard the country’s economic continuity.
The Prime Minister, who is also Finance Minister, chaired the 2026 National Finance Council meeting earlier.
He reported to state chief ministers that Malaysia’s economic fundamentals remain strong.
This strength persists despite uncertainty arising from the Middle East conflict.
“Gross Domestic Product growth in 2025 exceeded projections,” Anwar said.
He added that the unemployment rate is at its lowest level in 11 years.
