Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the NEAC will hold weekly discussions to assess the crisis’s economic impact and safeguard national resilience.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will monitor the West Asia crisis and its potential economic impact through weekly discussions at the National Economic Action Council.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Cabinet agreed for the NEAC to hold in-depth weekly meetings following the crisis.

“The MADANI Government will continue to closely monitor this crisis and its impact on the economy and the people,” he stated on social media platform X.

He added the government remains focused on maintaining the country’s economic resilience and ensuring people’s livelihoods are unaffected.

Anwar, who chairs the NEAC, said the council’s second meeting of 2026 today received a briefing on key economic indicators.

He reported that the overall economic situation remains under control.

“However, monitoring and early steps to address possible developments that may arise need to be planned now,” he said.

To this end, NEAC discussions will involve more active participation from industry representatives.

This engagement aims to ensure a better understanding of issues and enable faster, more practical solution proposals.

The NEAC is a high-level government body that coordinates Malaysia’s main economic policies and responses to challenges.
