The Natural Resources Ministry is prepared to deploy cloud seeding and other interventions to manage the prolonged hot weather affecting multiple states.

SHAH ALAM: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability stands ready to implement intervention measures, including cloud seeding, to mitigate the impact of the ongoing hot weather across several states.

Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup stated that actions would be guided by technical data and reports from relevant agencies to ensure effective management of the situation, particularly for the agricultural sector.

“If necessary, we will carry out interventions such as cloud seeding based on available data to ensure that the measures taken are timely and effective,” he told reporters after an event here.

He emphasised that the Malaysian Meteorological Department continues to provide crucial weather information to support follow-up actions and public preparedness.

Arthur highlighted the ministry’s role in issuing early warnings to agencies like the National Disaster Management Agency and the Department of Agriculture amid increasingly unpredictable climate conditions.

The hot and dry weather phenomenon is forecast to persist until the onset of the Southwest Monsoon in June.
