KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared Malaysia’s solidarity with all Muslims and communities in the Middle East affected by recent conflict.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said the nation prays for the well-being of those impacted by tensions stemming from actions by the United States and Israel.
He expressed hope that peace, justice and stability can soon be restored to the region.
The statement follows a series of attacks launched by the US and Israel on targets in Iran, including Tehran, on Saturday.
Reports indicate the attacks resulted in civilian casualties.
Iran has carried out retaliatory missile strikes on Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
The Islamic Republic News Agency reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the attack on Saturday morning.
