MAF deploys over 6,000 personnel across land, sea, and air for 24/7 border security, ensuring operations continue uninterrupted throughout Ramadan.

KOTA TINGGI: The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) deploys over 6,000 personnel from its land, sea, and air branches to maintain national security at all times.

Its chief, General Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman, said operations run 24 hours a day, including throughout Ramadan, to monitor waters, land borders, and strategic areas.

He stated that essential duties like patrolling continue without compromise, despite most MAF members observing the fast.

“The peace we enjoy, especially leading up to Hari Raya Aidilfitri, is the result of the presence of the MAF,” he said after visiting the MAF post in Tanjung Sepang.

His visit aimed to engage with personnel and review the operational environment and infrastructure at the post.

Pos Tanjung Sepang is an operational area under Op MERPATI, managed by the 7th Brigade of the Malaysian Infantry Brigade.

During the visit, Malek Razak reviewed operational achievements, including arrests by ranger units and the use of drone technology.

He said continuous improvements are being made to bridge operational gaps between posts and enhance intelligence effectiveness.

This includes cooperation with the Royal Malaysia Police and other agencies.

He also emphasised improving long-used infrastructure and operational facilities.

Ensuring integrated inter-agency cooperation is a priority for maximum effectiveness.

“Pos Tanjung Sepang is in the best condition and the safety of the community in the operational area is guaranteed,” he added.

This proves the MAF’s work aligns with government needs to maintain national sovereignty and security.

Earlier, Malek Razak joined MAF officers and members for a buka puasa meal at the post.
