A Malaysian was killed and another injured in a helicopter crash in the Philippines, with a Filipino passenger also confirmed dead in the incident

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian national was killed and another injured in a helicopter crash in the Philippines on Tuesday morning. The Bell 505 helicopter, carrying five people, went down in a vacant lot in Pililla, Rizal province at approximately 7.27am.

The crash also claimed the life of a Filipino passenger. Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Datuk Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino confirmed the identity of the deceased Malaysian and said next of kin have been notified.

“The embassy is also providing consular assistance to the next of kin and liaising with the local authorities to facilitate the necessary consular arrangements,” he told Bernama. Abdul Malik added that the injured Malaysian is currently receiving hospital treatment.

Embassy officers have visited the injured individual to provide support. The Philippine News Agency reported that the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is investigating the forced landing of the helicopter, which was en route from Manila to Quezon province.

“CAAP’s Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board is conducting an investigation,” the agency stated. Further details will be provided as they become available.
