Malaysia’s embassy in Jordan confirms all 1,898 registered students are safe and in good spirits, with daily life continuing normally despite regional tensions.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian students in Jordan are confirmed to be safe and in good spirits despite the ongoing conflict in West Asia, according to Malaysia’s Ambassador to Jordan, Datuk Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman.
A total of 1,898 Malaysian students have registered with the Malaysian Embassy in Amman as of March 15, with the diplomatic mission continuing to monitor the situation closely.
The embassy has assisted 41 Malaysian students since the conflict erupted on February 28, including 39 in Jordan and two in Syria, to either return home or resume their studies.
Ambassador Mohamad Nasri stated that the current situation in Jordan remains calm, peaceful, and stable, with daily life continuing as usual for its citizens.
All government offices, businesses, schools, and universities are operating normally without any restrictions, according to the envoy’s written response to Bernama.
Queen Alia International Airport is also functioning normally with no issues reported for inbound or outbound flights, he confirmed.
The embassy has been proactively engaging with the student community through meetings in several cities including Amman, Mafraq, Irbid, and Mutah.
A large gathering was held in Amman on March 9, where the ambassador and embassy officials briefed students on regional developments and available consular assistance.
Students were reminded to always prioritise their safety, stay alert to their surroundings, and adhere to all local regulations during the meetings.
They were also advised to check their flight schedules regularly to avoid surprises like cancellations that could strand them in a third country.
The embassy hosted a breaking of fast and group prayer session with the students during the recent gathering, fostering community spirit.
