Malaysia’s embassy in Cairo advises citizens to steer clear of unrest, carry valid documents, and avoid spreading unverified information online.

CAIRO: The Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo has issued a consular advisory urging all Malaysian citizens in Egypt to avoid areas experiencing civil unrest or where there is a large presence of security forces.

In a notice posted on its official Facebook page, the embassy strongly advised Malaysians to carry valid personal identification documents, including passports, visas, and student cards, with them at all times.

The notice explicitly warned against “writing or spreading unverified information that could be interpreted as disrupting public order in violation of local laws.”

It further called on citizens to stay alert to the latest developments and official instructions issued by the Egyptian authorities.

Malaysians were also advised to check the latest travel information from airlines and to remain calm while obtaining news only from verified sources.

The embassy reminded all citizens to maintain vigilance at all times and strictly adhere to timely instructions from local authorities.

Malaysians who have not yet registered with the embassy or who need to update their contact information and whereabouts are urged to do so via the official e-Consular portal at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my/login.
