KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 — A voice recording of a man in Bukit Mertajam informing his colleague that he could not come to work after finding his wife and daughter murdered has gone viral on social media.
According to Berita Harian, the 20-second audio clip, sent via WhatsApp, features the man sobbing and speaking in a traumatised state, believed to be the husband and father of the victims.
“I’m not coming to work tomorrow. My wife and daughter were murdered at home. I came back and saw the door open, and my wife was covered in blood. My daughter was murdered too,” he said in the recording.
the emotional clip has drawn widespread sympathy online, with many users expressing heartbreak and praying for the man’s strength.
Social media users identified the wife as a local kuih seller known for her kindness and dedication to supporting her family.
“We just found out 10 minutes ago and are still in shock. This lady (known as Kak Su) was very kind and hardworking, selling all kinds of festive cookies and bread,” one user wrote.
Another user claimed the house had been broken into and urged police to apprehend the suspect soon.
Earlier reports stated that the bodies of the 51-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were discovered by the husband at 7.30pm in their rented home in Kampung Sekolah Juru.
The woman was found in the downstairs kitchen with severe injuries, while her daughter was found face-down and covered in blood upstairs.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Police have yet to release further details about the suspect or motive.
