Melaka JPJ inspected 6,446 vehicles in a two-day Ops HRA 2026 blitz, issuing 1,058 notices and seizing six vehicles for various road law violations.

MELAKA: The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) took action against 430 vehicles and seized six others during the first two days of its special Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri (HRA) 2026.

A total of 6,446 vehicles were inspected in the operation, which began on March 16 to ensure compliance ahead of the festive season.

State JPJ director Siti Zarina Mohd Yusop (pic) said motorcycles received the highest number of summonses, with 409 JPJ P22 notices issued.

Cars followed with 306 notices, while goods vehicles received 176 and tour buses 15.

“Various actions were enforced including Section 61(1) Inspection Order Notices, Section 114 Investigation Interview Notices, Vehicle Usage Prohibition Notices (PG1), Section 63(1) Weighing Order Notices, as well as notices under the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) were also issued, totalling 1,058 notices over the two days of Ops HRA 2026,” she told reporters after monitoring the operation at the Melaka Sentral Terminal.

The 13-day operation, running until March 29 and excluding the Aidilfitri holidays, involves 105 officers and personnel.

It focuses on road law compliance and reducing accident rates.

Pre-operational safety checks were also conducted at express bus depots, with 39 buses inspected at four locations.

Siti Zarina said 34 buses received inspection slips, while five were under maintenance.

At the Melaka Sentral Terminal, 147 buses were inspected and 45 received slips.

One bus was penalised for not having a second driver for a journey exceeding four hours or 300 kilometres continuously.

Undercover operations posing as passengers were carried out on north and southbound routes to detect driver offences.

One JPJ P22 notice was issued to a driver for using a mobile phone while driving from Melaka to Johor Bahru.

A notice under Section 224 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 was also issued for dropping off passengers at an unauthorised location on a journey from KLIA2 to Melaka.

The National Anti-Drugs Agency collaborated in conducting urine tests on 85 bus drivers, all of whom tested negative.
