
Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast for eight states until 9pm tonight, according to the national weather agency.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe weather warning for eight states.
The alert for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds is in effect until 9pm today.
The affected states are Johor, Kedah, Pahang, Perak, Selangor, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak.
Specific districts across these states are expected to be impacted.
In Kedah, the warning covers Yan, Pendang, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
Perak’s affected areas include Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim.
The alert involves Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu.
It also covers Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang.
In Selangor, the districts of Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang are affected.
Johor’s warning applies to Segamat, Batu Pahat, Pontian and Johor Bahru.
For Sarawak, the areas involved are Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.
In Sabah, the warning covers the Interior areas of Sipitang, Tenom, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan.
It also includes the West Coast areas of Papar, Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud.
The Tawau division areas of Tawau and Lahad Datu are also under warning.
Sandakan and Kudat (Kota Marudu) complete the list of affected Sabah districts.
