Defence minister Khaled Nordin honours a military family’s profound loss after a soldier’s death follows his father’s fatal air crash
KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has described the sacrifice of a military family that lost both a father and son in service to the nation as “beyond repayment”.
In a Facebook post, he paid tribute to the family of Trooper K. Indiran, who died last week, noting his father, Lt Col C. Kayamboo of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, was killed in a 2016 aircraft crash.
“The sacrifice of a family that has given not one, but two beloved members to the nation is a sacrifice that can never be repaid or compared in any way whatsoever,” Khaled said.
He expressed his deepest condolences and urged Malaysians to pray for the family’s strength.
Indiran, 22, was found unconscious during training at the First Regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps in Kuantan on February 18.
He was pronounced dead the following day while receiving treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan.
Khaled was reported as saying no elements of abuse or bullying were detected in the soldier’s death.
