Teen celebrates first salary by treating family to Thai dinner, sparking heartfelt wishes and inspiring others online
RECEIVING your first salary is always special, but sharing it with your family can make the moment even more meaningful.
In a recent Threads post, 18-year-old @aeynnf revealed that she had treated her family to dinner at a Thai restaurant using her very first earnings.
“Wish me ‘congratulations’, guys, because I managed to bring my family out for dinner at this age with my first salary. Although it is small, it is meaningful, right?” she wrote.
The feast included huge portions of iced milk tea, beef noodles, a giant pistachio ice cream with various toppings, and a passion fruit bingsu-style ice cream, amounting to RM233.35.

Netizens sent heartfelt messages congratulating the hard-working teen and noting that it marked a milestone in her life.
Commenting on her modest description of the treat as “small,” Nam wrote, “Sister, you spent so much and say ‘it’s just a little’? Congrats! May your blessings keep flowing for being so generous with your family.”
@aeynnf thanked him and shared that she is planning to buy bags for her family for the upcoming Raya festival, asking netizens to wish her luck.
Irfan added that treating one’s family to food is one of the biggest achievements in a daughter’s life.
Whirman shared his own first salary story, recalling that he took his family to McDonald’s.
“To some, it might seem normal, but to me, it was one of the best moments of my life. We grew up very poor and could only eat out at KFC when my dad had a little extra from his salary (and back then KFC was much cheaper than McDonald’s, so we could only afford a few sets). It felt different, watching them enjoy the food with joy and knowing I was paying with my own money made it even more special,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aji reflected on his first salary three years ago and admitted he had forgotten to treat his family.
“Thanks for the reminder. Will do later for my family with my adult money,” he wrote.
