ICA Search and Examination officers seized more than 1,200 vapes and related components.

PETALING JAYA: A 33-year-old Malaysian man was arrested after he was caught allegedly attempting to smuggle more than 1,200 vapes into Singapore while travelling with his family.

According to a Facebook post by the Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the man driving a Malaysian-registered vehicle attempted to bring in the contraband via Woodlands Checkpoint.

He was accompanied by his 33-year-old wife and their three children, aged three, five and eight.

“A check was conducted on the vehicle and e-vaporisers were discovered in boxes found in the boot.

“ICA Search and Examination officers conducted further checks and seized more than 1,200 e-vaporisers and related components.”

The driver was subsequently arrested at the checkpoint.

The case has since been referred to the neighbouring country’s Health Sciences Authority for further investigation.
