Woman sparks debate after claiming her husband only washes his own clothes, raising questions about sharing chores in marriage

SHARING is caring, especially in a marriage. But for one woman, a simple laundry routine sparked bigger questions about love and partnership.

Threads user Natasha Ahmad jokingly suggested that her husband might not like her after noticing he only washed his own clothes.

She posted a photo of men’s T-shirts, trousers and socks drying under the fan in their dining area.

“I suspect my husband doesn’t like me. He only washes his own clothes — none of mine at all,” she wrote sarcastically, though it was clear the situation had hurt her feelings.

In the comments, netizens offered advice and shared similar experiences. Nis Suhaimy recounted how her husband used to behave the same way until she decided to teach him a lesson.

“When he came home from work and asked about dinner, I said, ‘There isn’t any. Aren’t we doing things separately? Cook for yourself’,” she shared.

After letting him sit with that feeling for a while, she eventually served the meal and gently asked, “How does that feel? Does it hurt?”

According to Nis, the message got through and her husband gradually made an effort to change his behaviour.

Another user, Syazwani Izzati, described the situation as “housemate behaviour”, to which Natasha replied that she had said the same to her husband but he laughed it off.

Yasmis Shuhada also pointed out the double standards in the comment section.

“Isn’t it strange? When a wife washes the clothes and includes her husband’s, no one says anything. But when a husband does the laundry and doesn’t wash his wife’s clothes as well, people comment that he ‘deserves better’? What? Why? Can’t a husband wash his wife’s clothes too?” she asked.
