A woman claims a delivery rider stole three smartphones in Balakong, Selangor. Police report lodged as netizens warn about trust in riders.

A Malaysian woman recently accused a delivery rider of theft after allegedly discovering that the smartphones she had ordered for delivery having never arrived at the stated address.

Taking to Threads, the woman claimed that the rider had made off with three smartphones, with his last known location detected at a petrol station believed to be in Balakong, Selangor.

“Calls were ringing, messages showed double ticks, but he did not respond. In the end, he blocked me,” she alleged in the post.

She added that a police report has since been lodged against the rider.

Netizens echoed the woman’s frustration, stressing that the alleged actions of a single delivery rider could negatively affect public perception of other riders, thereby tarnishing their reputation.

Some users also speculated that the rider involved may have been using someone else’s identification.

“Because of one rider doing stupid things, the reputation of other riders gets damaged. I’ve personally had an order to collect three Apple MacBooks — even when I had no money at the time, I still delivered them honestly. So why are there riders who take advantage like this?” one user commented.

“Stealing an order isn’t worth it. You might profit once, but the consequences are serious — you could get sued, go to jail, attend court hearings repeatedly, lose your rider identification, and end up with zero income. Idiotic,” another added.
