“First day of Ramadan and the LRT from Gombak isn’t working since 6.45am. Is the train fasting too?”
THE first morning of Ramadan left many commuters frustrated after disruptions hit the Kelana Jaya LRT line during peak hours today morning (Feb 19).
Passengers on the Kelana Jaya LRT line heading towards Gombak were left stranded as early as 6:45am after trains reportedly stopped functioning during peak hours.
One commuter vented online:
“First day of Ramadan and the LRT from Gombak isn’t working since 6.45am. Is the train fasting too? If we drive, there’s a terrible jam. If we take public transport, there’s a problem. How like this?!”
One frustrated commuter shared: “If they had announced it earlier, people could have booked Grab sooner. By the time I tried, my booking was cancelled and the fare jumped to over RM50.”
“Welcome to first Ramadan chaos. Going back and forth between platforms because the LRT is going crazy. One minute it’s heading to Gombak, next minute to Putra Heights, then suddenly both platforms say Gombak,” commented another.
Another commuter summed up the mood bluntly: “First day of fasting and the LRT already has problems. Why is it always like this?”
In a statement, Rapid KL onfirmed that the delay was caused by a signalling system disruption between Gombak and Ampang Park stations.
In a subsequent update issued later in the morning, Rapid KL announced that services on the Kelana Jaya line were fully restored at 8.52am.
Rapid KL apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation during the disruption.
