A Malaysian worker sparked debate online after revealing they haven’t received a raise in 3 years and no bonus this year, asking netizens if they should quit.
A Malaysian netizen has sparked a wave of online discussion after sharing their frustration about their job situation.
In a post that quickly went viral, the user wrote: “Anyway, the company hasn’t given me a raise for three years, and to make it worse, I didn’t get a bonus this year.
“Should I quit?
“But I do get to work from home and only have to go to the office once a week… Please help clean this up and give me some advice.”
The post resonated with many who’ve felt stuck in a similar work rut.
Netizens flooded the comments with advice, sympathy, and personal anecdotes, debating whether flexibility like working from home is enough to stay in a job that doesn’t reward loyalty.
“I’ve almost been at my job for 4 years with no raise, and the bonus is just like biscuits… sometimes it’s there, sometimes it’s not. In the end, I quit. Now I’m at a new company with much better benefits,” hani_hanami wrote.
“I’ve been working from home for six years. Then suddenly this year, no raise and no bonus. I feel really demotivated. I’m not sure… it’s been three years with nothing, I probably should have quit by now,” najwaaaanuar shared.
However, one user had a different opinion.
“For me, as long as the company pays my salary on time every month, it’s not toxic, and I feel comfortable, even if my salary hasn’t increased… it’s better to stay.
“Why? Because I’ve regretted leaving a job just because the pay didn’t go up, even though everything else at the company was fine and my colleagues were good.
“After I resigned, I changed jobs four times and encountered really toxic workplaces, and some didn’t even pay on time. I had to fight at the labor office too. It’s better to choose your mental health over salary.
“Of course, everyone wants a higher salary, but you never know how a new company will be. If your current job is okay, then Alhamdulillah… This is my advice,” nurulaindin commented.
