The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation will hold an emergency foreign ministers’ meeting to address Israeli settlement expansion and sovereignty claims in the occupied West Bank.

JEDDAH: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will convene an emergency meeting of its foreign ministers this Thursday.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the meeting of the Open-Ended Executive Committee will address recent actions by the Israeli occupation, including settlement expansion, annexation and attempts to assert sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.

The session at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah aims to coordinate positions among member states and explore measures to confront these actions.

Discussions will specifically focus on a recent Israeli decision to initiate land settlement procedures in the occupied West Bank under the pretext of “state land.”

The OIC stated that these steps form part of ongoing efforts to alter the legal, political and demographic status of the Palestinian territories.

The organisation further warned that such actions undermine prospects for a two-state solution.
