Some oil loading operations at the UAE’s key Fujairah port were halted after a fire sparked by intercepted drone debris, industry sources confirm.

DUBAI: Some oil loading operations have been suspended at the United Arab Emirates’ port of Fujairah, a major global bunkering hub.

Two industry sources confirmed the halt, which followed a fire at the port on Saturday.

The emirate’s media office stated the fire occurred after debris fell during the interception of a drone.

No injuries were reported from the incident, which is being handled by civil defence forces.

Authorities have not provided any information regarding the reported suspension of operations.

Bloomberg News earlier reported the suspension was due to a drone attack and fire at the port, which lies outside the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
