More than 300 individuals have sought counselling for stress and trauma at Kelantan’s Mawaddah Centre over the past two years, highlighting growing mental health needs
KOTA BHARU: More than 300 individuals have sought counselling at the state-run Mawaddah Centre over the past two years. State Welfare, Family and Women’s Development Committee chairwoman Datuk Rohani Ibrahim revealed the figure today.
She said most clients are from Kota Bharu and prefer the centre for its comfort and confidentiality. The centre has been offering counselling for five years to those facing personal crises.
“We know life is getting tougher, and personal problems are a leading cause of trauma and emotional stress for many,” Rohani told reporters. She warned that such issues cannot be ignored.
“This cannot be ignored, as some may be driven to take their own lives,” she added. The data underscores the growing need for accessible mental health support services in the community.
