More than 6,000 police personnel will patrol residential areas and high-risk zones nationwide during the Aidilfitri holidays to prevent crime

PETALING JAYA: A total of 6,132 police personnel will be deployed for nationwide patrols during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.

The operation will involve 1,732 motorcycle patrol units and 1,643 patrol cars.

Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the move aims to prevent crimes like house break-ins in residential areas.

Patrols will also be conducted in areas expected to experience traffic congestion.

This is to ensure smooth travel for those returning to their hometowns.

“Members of the public who plan to leave their homes to return to their hometowns are advised to fill in the balik kampung form manually at the nearest police station or download the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol application,” Mohd Yusri said.

He stated this would help police carry out periodic patrols and monitoring.

He was speaking at a press conference after the ‘Konvoi Iftar Sanjungan Budi Frontliner’ programme at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters.

Also present were Selangor Deputy Police Chief DCP Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan and Petaling Jaya District Police Chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat.
