Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution says PDRM must prioritise all complaints related to alleged attempts to destabilise the country.

BACHOK: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has been instructed to give priority and full attention to investigating all complaints regarding alleged attempts to overthrow the government. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Cabinet issued the directive last Friday.

He stated that investigations have already commenced following police reports. The probe is currently at an early stage.

“Every complaint received will serve as an important basis for PDRM in determining the direction of a more detailed investigation,” Saifuddin told reporters after an event here.

He said the complaints provide the foundation for police to decide which legal provisions to apply.

It is equally important for investigators to identify the motive behind the alleged incident. They must also determine the final outcome of the probe.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail was previously reported as saying PDRM received a report last Thursday. The report concerned an alleged movement involving collaboration between an influential local figure and an international media agency.

The investigation is being conducted by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) under Section 124B of the Penal Code. This section pertains to activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
