National coach Rosman Razak intensifies training with 70% focus on physical fitness to boost Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah’s endurance for the All England Championships.

NATIONAL women’s doubles head coach Rosman Razak is pushing Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah to their physical limits ahead of the All England Badminton Championships.

Rosman revealed that nearly 70% of their recent training has been dedicated to enhancing fitness, endurance, and on-court resilience.

He admitted the intense workload has left the pair feeling fatigued as they prepare for the prestigious tournament in Birmingham from March 3-8.

“This foundation is crucial not just for the All England but for other championships, as future training blocks will be shorter,” Rosman told reporters after a session at Akademi Badminton Malaysia.

The coach emphasised that improved physical capacity is vital for maintaining an aggressive rhythm during long rallies and a packed schedule.

He identified the pair’s inconsistent form as their biggest challenge, especially against elite Chinese and Japanese pairs who frequently alter tactics.

“The hardest part is learning how to win even when your performance level drops during a competition,” Rosman explained.

Regarding expectations, he stated that Pearly-Thinaah cannot escape the high target of winning the women’s doubles title.

Rosman views the first two rounds as critical for the pair to adapt to court conditions and build positive momentum.

He also defended the strategic decision to skip the German Open, describing it as a move to conserve energy for the All England.

“There is no such thing as a ‘warm-up’ tournament, as you still need to win,” Rosman said, noting the high competition level in Germany.

He added that many top shuttlers are adopting the same focused approach this year.
