The Perak Stadium’s renovation, including a new pitch, is set for completion by June after delays from weather and scope changes.
IPOH: The extensive upgrade of Perak Stadium, which includes installing a new grass pitch, is now expected to be fully completed by June.
State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching said the project was delayed from its initial January target due to weather conditions and adjustments to the work scope.
She confirmed that drainage and gutter upgrade works are currently in progress. The old grass has been completely removed to prepare for the planting of the new surface.
“Once all works are completed, a trial period of about three to four months is required before the stadium can be fully used,” Ng told reporters.
She added that the state government will continue to closely monitor the project to ensure all works meet the required specifications.
In a separate matter, Ng stated that the Ipoh City Council will review the causes of the flash floods in Manjoi on Feb 16.
Follow-up actions involving the drainage system and area cleaning will be taken to prevent a recurrence.
