Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah will streamline from 74 to 26 divisions, aligning with parliamentary constituencies to boost operational effectiveness.

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) plans to restructure its organisation from 74 divisions to just 26.

The move, approved by the party’s Supreme Council, aims to streamline and strengthen the party machinery.

Its information chief, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, said the restructuring is intended to reinforce PGRS as a pillar of Sabah’s unity government.

He added it will enhance the party’s efforts to champion the people’s interests.

“This restructuring will bring significant benefits to Gagasan Rakyat’s struggle to serve the rakyat,” he told reporters.

Nizam, who is also Sabah’s Minister of Youth, Sports and Creative Economy, said the new structure is expected to be based on Sabah’s 25 parliamentary constituencies.

One additional division will be created for the federal territory of Labuan.

He added that the party will convene a special general assembly in the near future.

The assembly will deliberate on related matters, including amendments to the party’s constitution.
