Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim approves over RM20 million for GOF camp upgrades in Kulim and repairs for 15 Kedah pondok schools

KULIM: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved an immediate allocation of RM18 million to upgrade critical infrastructure at the 2nd Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) camp here.

The funding includes RM10 million to restore the water supply and RM8 million to repair the camp’s wiring system.

Anwar announced the allocation during a breaking-of-fast event with the Home Ministry, stating he acted after speaking with personnel about their conditions.

“This is 2026, and they work hard in the field and, when they return, they have to think about water rationing,” he said.

The prime minister also announced an immediate allocation of RM2.69 million for repairing pondok schools in Kedah.

He stated that 15 small projects for pondok schools have been identified for immediate repair.

In his speech, Anwar reiterated the government’s firm stance on tackling leakages and corruption.

He said strict actions had enabled the government to collect RM15.5 billion in revenue over two years.

“Previously, it was not collected, so where did the money go if we can collect RM15 billion in two years,” he asked.

Anwar acknowledged that these actions were unpopular with certain influential parties.

He warned that many affected parties have large funds to influence international and social media.

The prime minister reminded all parties to remain vigilant and not become tools for irresponsible elements.

He stressed the country must be protected despite differences of opinion.
