Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the government continues to prioritise the welfare of Malaysian Armed Forces personnel and their families.
KUALA LUMPUR: The government remains committed to prioritising the welfare of Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) officers, personnel, and their families.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this includes addressing housing matters that directly affect their well-being.
He stated the issue was highlighted during a meeting with the senior management of the Ministry of Defence and MAF leadership.
Anwar added that he was also briefed on several strategic decisions relating to national sovereignty and security.
“These discussions are vital to ensure the readiness and capabilities of the MAF continue to be strengthened,” he said.
This is to address increasingly complex geo-strategic challenges and threats.
“MAF remains the nation’s primary defence bastion and a symbol of sovereignty that must be preserved,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
The meeting lasted about an hour at Wisma Perwira.
It was also attended by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Chief of Defence Forces Gen Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar was also present.
After the meeting, Anwar attended a religious lecture and performed the zuhur prayer at the Khalid bin Al-Walid Mosque.
