PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will table a motion in the Dewan Rakyat tomorrow condemning what he described as Israel’s barbaric and violent attack on Iran, which was carried out with the backing of the United States.
He stated that the Zionist regime’s actions constitute acts of cruelty and repeated violations of international law that must be universally condemned.
“The cruelty of Zionist Israel never stops because they have lost all sense of humanity,” Anwar said during a breaking of fast ceremony with community leaders at the Seri Perdana Complex.
The Prime Minister also expressed his condolences to the people of Iran on the passing of their Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the attack.
Speaking on behalf of all Malaysians, he extended prayers and sympathy to the family of Imam Khamenei, describing them as victims of Zionist Israeli oppression.
International agencies reported that Israel launched the attack on Iran, with explosions noted in Tehran and several other cities including Isfahan, Qom, Karaj and Kermanshah.
The death of Ayatollah Khamenei was confirmed by the state-owned Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which announced that “Iran’s Supreme Leader has been martyred”.
US President Donald Trump and Israel had earlier claimed responsibility for Khamenei’s death in a joint military operation, a claim which Tehran authorities denied and labelled as psychological warfare.
