Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expresses deep concern over unresolved Gaza crisis and new US-Israel strikes on Iran, calling for global unity and moral responsibility.

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has voiced profound concern over protracted global conflicts, describing them as a severe test to international peace.

He stated that the suffering of people in Gaza remains unresolved while the world confronts fresh tensions from recent attacks.

“What deeply unsettles me today is that the Gaza crisis has yet to be resolved,” Anwar said at a breaking of fast event, yesterday.

He highlighted the stark contrast between daily life and the ongoing humanitarian disaster. “As we sit down to eat, there are people there who are still starving,” he added.

The Prime Minister expressed further dismay at the latest escalation involving Israel and the United States. “Now, we are further burdened by the decision of Israel, together with its ally, the United States, to launch attacks on Iran.”

Anwar issued a stark warning about the failure to learn from ongoing tragedies. “If we have yet to learn the meaning of unity and moral responsibility, then I do not know what more is needed.”

He reflected on the unprecedented scale of concurrent global crises. “Rarely in human history have so many tragedies continued to unfold before our very eyes,” he concluded.

The event was attended by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim. Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and over 300 staff from both ministries.

Tensions escalated after the US and Israel launched strikes, which Israel described as a “pre-emptive attack”. The stated aim was to eliminate threats from its long-time adversary.

The military action followed a significant US military build-up in the region aimed at pressuring Tehran. This pressure relates to Iran’s nuclear programme and its internal crackdown on protests.
