Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim directs faster implementation of small-scale projects in all districts, prioritising local issues like road repairs and drainage
PONTIAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered the nationwide implementation of small-scale projects in all districts to be expedited.
He stated that people benefit more immediately from local repairs than from major national announcements.
Anwar emphasised that issues affecting people at the district level must receive attention from both federal and state leaders.
He declared that beginning January 2026, a full year will be dedicated to a movement ensuring small projects are implemented promptly.
He made these remarks when officiating the groundbreaking for an additional building at Pontian Hospital and the MADANI People’s Carnival.
The Prime Minister said all district officers must now submit reports on small projects in their areas to prevent implementation delays.
“The problem is that sometimes there are many projects, but implementation is slow due to technical issues,” he said.
Anwar explained he visits districts personally to identify stalled projects and understand the reasons for delays.
Regarding contractor selection, Anwar said the Public Works Department has taken initiatives to ensure health and development projects proceed smoothly.
For the Pontian Hospital addition, he directed it be expedited as a ‘fast-track’ project.
He reminded project implementers and contractors to carry out their duties with integrity.
“No leakages, no wastage, and ensure that the tender process is carried out properly so that it truly benefits the people,” Anwar said.
The Prime Minister stressed he will not compromise on clean and efficient administration for the people’s benefit.
At the event, he also approved an immediate allocation of RM2 million for basic facilities and a surau in the Pontian district.
