A two-month-old baby was allegedly abused by his unregistered caregiver in Mambau, leading to police investigation and hospitalisation.
MAMBAU: Police have arrested a 46-year-old woman after a two-month-old baby boy was allegedly abused while under her care.
The infant’s 25-year-old mother filed a police report last Friday after noticing injuries on her son.
She had sent the baby to the caregiver’s house in Kampung Kayu Ara, Mambau in the morning and collected him at 5.10 pm.
Examinations at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar confirmed scratch marks and abrasions on the baby’s chest, along with bruising on his left cheek.
The victim is currently warded in the paediatric ward for observation but is in stable condition.
Seremban police chief ACP Azahar Abdul Rahim said the suspect is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Initial investigations found the woman had been operating as a caregiver for two years without registration from the Social Welfare Department.
In an unrelated case, police are tracking three men for allegedly throwing firecrackers at a senior citizen’s house in Senawang last Saturday.
Azahar urged the public with information to contact the Seremban District Police Headquarters hotline at 06-603 3222.
