Police have recorded statements from 20 people in the murder of a Myanmar woman found with a slashed neck in a Nilai dormitory, with CCTV footage under review
SEREMBAN: Police have recorded statements from 20 individuals as part of the investigation into the death of a Myanmar woman found with slash wounds at a foreign worker dormitory in Nilai.
Nilai district police chief Supt Johari Yahya said the statements were taken from the victim’s friends, other dormitory residents, and security guards.
He added that investigators are currently reviewing several closed-circuit television recordings obtained from the area.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Johari urged the public not to speculate on the case as it may interfere with the ongoing investigation.
He also confirmed the preliminary autopsy results, which were conducted at Rembau Hospital.
The autopsy revealed the cause of death was a slash wound to the neck.
Police discovered the victim, aged in her 30s, unconscious and covered in blood on the stairs of the hostel.
They received a report of the incident at 11.21 pm last Monday.
Based on initial findings, police have not ruled out the possibility that the case may be linked to a personal or financial dispute.
