KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded statements from three individuals to assist in an investigation into an alleged plot to topple the government and sabotage national stability.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police will continue to call several other individuals as new information emerges.
“To date, we have recorded three statements from the individuals concerned. Investigations are ongoing and we will continue recording statements in the coming days,” he told a press conference.
On whether the statement of the influential individual believed to have planned the alleged plot had been recorded, he said police have yet to do so.
He explained that the process has so far focused on recording statements from the complainant and several other related parties.
Mohd Khalid confirmed that investigations are not linked to any other probe currently being conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
He added that further detailed investigations are still required to determine any involvement or interference from foreign parties in the case.
